UNION, N.J. – The Arcadia University men's lacrosse team dropped a 13-2 non-conference contest at Kean University Wednesday night. It was the season-opener for both teams.
The Cougars scored each of the first nine goals of the game, a streak that ended when sophomore
Joe Stanton got the Knights on the board with 2:06 remaining in the second quarter. Freshman
Ryan Donovan accounted for Arcadia's second goal, the first of his collegiate career, which came 5:41 into the third quarter.
Junior Anthony Carpenter led Kean with three goals and two assists, while classmate Matt Speciale and sophomore Matt Brodley added two goals each. Junior Maxwell Fields totaled 13 saves to earn the decision in goal.
Kean owned a 44-21 advantage in shots, including a 26-8 margin in the first half and an 18-13 edge in the second half, and won 10 of 19 faceoffs. Groundballs also favored the Cougars, 26-17.
Arcadia will look to bounce back Saturday when it hosts a 1 p.m. non-conference game against Rosemont College at Easton Field.
