Balanced attack leads women’s basketball team to first-ever win over Lebanon Valley, 61-51

GELNSIDE, Pa. – Four members of the Arcadia University women's basketball team scored on double figures as the Knights recorded a 61-51 Commonwealth Conference victory over visiting Lebanon Valley College Wednesday night at Alumni Gymnasium, marking the program's first-ever victory over the Dutchmen in a series that dates back to the 2005-06 season.

Arcadia improved to 11-10 overall and 7-5 in conference play with the win, and earned a split of the season series with LVC. The Knights are now two games ahead of the Dutchmen (13-7, 5-7 CC) in the Commonwealth Conference standings. Arcadia's seven conference victories this season are the most since joining the conference in 2008-09 and are the second-most in a single season in program history.

Junior guard Maureen Fiocca hit a three-pointer as to give the Knights an 11-8 lead six minutes into the game, and they would not trail the rest of the way. That shot was part of an 8-0 run that was capped by a jumper from senior guard/forward Megan Fox, putting Arcadia up 13-8 two minutes later. The Knights led by as many as seven points in the first half before settling for a 27-24 lead at the half.

Arcadia opened the second half on a 7-2 run, capped off by a three-pointer Fox that extended the lead to 34-26. The Knights' largest lead of the game was 14 following a 7-0 burst that Fiocca finished with a three, giving Arcadia a 50-36 lead with 7:53 left in the game.

Fiocca finished with 16 points for Arcadia, while junior forward Addy Crenny added another double-double to her record as she scored 13 points with a game-high 18 rebounds to go along with a game-high six assists and three steals. She now has a conference-best 16 double-doubles on the season, and entered the night with the third-most double-doubles in the nation. Junior forward Valerie DiMuro contributed 11 points and eight rebounds, while senior guard Dominique Hassinger scored 10 points with five assists.

Lebanon Valley was led by junior guard Bridget Rothert's 19 points and six assists. Junior guard/forward Peyton Carper added eight points, a team-high four assists, and a team-high seven rebounds.

The Knights return to action next Wednesday when they travel to Williamsport to face the Warriors of Lycoming College for a 6 p.m. Commonwealth Conference contest.
