WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Arcadia University men's tennis team dropped a 5-4 Freedom Conference decision at King's College (Pa.) Saturday, dropping its record to 2-2 for the season. The Monarchs improved to 4-5 with the win. It was the conference opener for both teams.
The match was tied at 4-4 with only No. 3 singles remaining to be completed. King's freshman Nathan Carl was able to defeat Arcadia sophomore
Wesley Wei to give the Monarchs the match victory.
The Knights led 2-1 after doubles play was completed. Junior
Alex Colton and sophomore
Chuck Poklikuha were 8-6 winners over Senior Tyler Ryman and junior Ryan Hegarty at No. 2, while Wei and sophomore
Ricardo Margolles were 8-3 winners over juniors Matt James and John Labiak at No. 3.
Singles competition was a different story as Arcadia managed just two wins out of the six matches. Colton posted a 6-3, 6-3 win over Ryman at No. 2 and Poklikuha was a 7-5, 6-4 winner at No. 5 over James.
The Knights will look to bounce back Thursday when they host a Freedom Conference match against FDU-Florham at Weiss Courts.
