DOYLESTOWN, Pa. – The Arcadia University men's lacrosse team was outscored 3-1 in the fourth quarter as it dropped an 11-9 non-conference decision at Delaware Valley University Saturday. The Aggies improved to 2-0 for the season, while the Knights fell to 1-3.
The game was tied at eight heading into the final period, and DelVal took the lead for good on back-to-back goals from freshman Seth Clauser in the opening five minutes of the period. Freshman
Danny Riley brought Arcadia back within one with an unassisted goal with 6:34 remaining, but sophomore Bill Long answered for the Aggies just a minute later for the 11-9 final.
Delaware Valley outscored Arcadia 4-1 in the first quarter and was up 6-2 following consecutive goals from freshman Chris Coyle, but the Knights scored five of the next six goals in the game to draw even at the half. Freshman
Ryan Donovan scored the tying goal with just 0:38 left in the second quarter.
Clauser and Coyle scored four goals each to lead the Aggies, while freshman Jacob Tomasik totaled 12 saves in net.
Riley scored three goals with two assists for Arcadia, while Donovan and freshman
Sean McDonald each totaled two goals and one assist. Sophomore
Jordan Culichia took the loss after allowing four goals with seven saves in the second half after freshman
A.J. Beck allowed seven goals with five stops in the first half.
The Knights will next complete their game with Stockton University Monday at 7 p.m. at Easton Field. The game was halted due to the snow storm that rendered the turf unplayable after the two teams were tied at five at the half.
