No. 8 Stevenson Too Much for Men’s Lacrosse in 21-3 Setback

GLENSIDE, Pa. – The Arcadia University men's lacrosse team dropped a 21-3 Commonwealth Conference decision to visiting Stevenson University Saturday at Easton Field. The eighth-ranked Mustangs improved to 9-4 overall and 4-0 in conference play with the win, while the Knights fell to 3-8 overall and 1-4 in league play with the loss.

Stevenson opened the game with a four-goal and never looked back in. Senior Billy Burgoyne scored two goals in a span of 1:45 during that opening surge, while sophomore Kyle D'Onofrio capped it with what proved to be the game-winner with 8:01 left in the first quarter.

Freshman Danny Riley scored his team-leading 24th goal of the season to get Arcadia on the board with 3:44 left in the opening frame, while sophomore Joe Stanton and freshman Ryan Donovan found the back of the net in a span of 2:14 midway through the fourth quarter for the Knights.

Freshman A.J. Beck had a strong showing in goal for the Knights, totaling 18 saves in his 43:48 in net, which tie him for the second-highest save total in a single game in the program's brief history. Sophomore Jordan Culichia made a program-record 20 stops against Stockton University last season.  Freshman Timothy Flounders had four stops while playing the final 16:12 in goal.

Sophomore Tyler Fuhrman scored four goals and assisted on three others to lead the Mustangs, while Burgoyne and junior Matt Tompkins added three goals each.  Junior Connor Skeen allowed one goal and registered one save in the first half to earn the decision in net, improving his record to 3-0.

Arcadia will be back in action Wednesday when the Knights host the College of Mount Saint Vincent at 7 p.m.
