GLENSIDE, Pa. – The Arcadia University men's soccer team overcame a two-goal first half deficit to earn a 2-2 draw with visiting Marywood University Tuesday night at Easton Field. It was the 2015 season-opener for both teams.
The Pacers struck twice midway through the first half on a pair of goals from Daniel Hull. The first came in the 21st-minute and the second was scored in the 27th.
Senior
Matt Ross brought the Knights back with his first tally if the season in the 36th-minute, and freshman
R.J. White tied the game in the 67th-minute with the first goal of his collegiate career.
Arcadia dominated the play in the later stages of regulation, but was unable to get the go-ahead goal. Patrick Brogan came up with the save on a shot off the foot of freshman
Sam Hernandez in the 80th-minute, while perhaps the best scoring chance went wide left on senior
David Colombo's header from the right post two minutes later.
Sophomore
Chris Watson totaled 10 saves for the Knights, while Brogan finished with seven stops for the Pacers.
Marywood held a 24-20 advantage in shots for the match, while Arcadia had a 7-4 edge in corner kicks.
The Knights will be back in action at this weekend's Franklin & Marshall Invitational, opening play against the Host Diplomats Friday at 7 p.m. before closing out the first week of play against Eastern University Saturday at 3 p.m.
