GLENSIDE, Pa. - The Arcadia University women's soccer team was powered by a strong defense en route to a 1-0 victory over Penn State - Abington on Saturday afternoon at Easton Field. The Scarlet and Grey dominated the possession battle in large part to a stellar defensive performance in the offensive end. Junior
Lennon Kramer scored the contest's only goal in the early goings of the second half.
The Knights went to work early firing four shots in the first seven minutes of the opening stanza, three from Kramer. Arcadia kept the pressure on firing 14 total shots in the first 45 minutes. Kramer put the only goal on the board just under three minutes into the second half. The junior was on the receiving end of a cross from sophomore
Kayla Haberbosch with which she put past the keeper's right side.
The defense did the rest. The Scarlet and Grey made it extremely difficult for the Lions to cross the midline. Led by seniors
Melia Ochsner and
Caitlin Liscinski and rookie Veronica Pontis Arcadia held the Lions to a single shot, which didn't come until the 85th minute.
Arcadia returns to action on Tuesday, when the Knights host Cabrini in a 7 p.m. contest.
