Field Hockey Shuts Out Hood for Second Straight Win, 6-0

GLENSIDE, Pa. – Senior Allie Hines and junior Lindsay Tobey scored two goals each to lead the Arcadia University field Hockey team to a 6-0 MAC Commonwealth victory over visiting Hood College Saturday afternoon at Easton Field. The Knights improved to 2-8 overall while evening their conference record at 1-1. The Blazers fell to 2-7 overall and 0-2 in conference play with their fourth consecutive loss.

HOW IT HAPPENED: The Knights struck early and often to start the match, getting on the board just two minutes in as sophomore Gabby Sedares one-timed Hines' feed from the right side of the circle into the cage for what proved to be the game-winning goal. Freshman Isabelle Houser extended Arcadia's lead to 2-0 after burying a crossing pass from Tobey at the 14:03 mark of the game.

Tobey scored twice in a span of just 28 seconds to make it 4-0 midway through the opening period, and the score remained 4-0 until Hines' first goal of the match 59 seconds into the second half. Hines capped the scoring with her team-leading fourth goal of the season in the 57th-minute for the 6-0 final.

IN GOAL: Freshman Anne Becker needed to make just one save as she improved to 2-0 with her second straight shutout win of the season. Sophomore Taylor Deeley helped keep the shutout intact with a defensive save on Denisha Robinson's bid off a corner with 3:51 left in the match. Hailey Poisal fell to 2-7 after recording 13 saves for the Blazers.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: Arcadia dominated the match from the opening whistle, outshooting Hood 32-2 and owning a 21-4 advantage on penalty corners. The Blazers' only period of sustained pressure on Arcadia's defensive half of the field was in the closing four minutes of the contest, where they were limited to a single shot on their three corner attempts.
