GLENSIDE, Pa. – The Arcadia University field hockey team scored three times in a span of five minutes in the second half to claim a 3-1 victory over Delaware Valley University Monday night at Easton Field. The Knights improved to 3-8 with their third straight win, while the Aggies fell to 4-8 with third straight loss.
HOW IT HAPPENED: The match was scoreless until senior
Allie Hines got the Knights on the board with her team-leading fifth goal of the season, putting home a cross from the right of the circle from freshman
Sydney Cyr. That lead didn't last long, as Cecelia Lounsberry managed to sneak what appeared to be a centering feed past freshman goalkeeper
Anne Becker off a corner just 49 seconds later.
Sophomore
Gabby Sedares had a quick answer for the Knights, slamming the ball into the back of the cage after the initial shot by junior
Lindsay Tobey was deflected to her in front of the cage for her third goal of the year. Tobey added an insurance goal in the 52nd minute, tipping the ball in off an initial shot from Hines in a scramble in front of the cage.
IN GOAL: Becker totaled three saves in the match to improve her record to 3-0 this season. Her shutout streak of 215:13 ended on Lounsberry's tally. Rosie Bishop also totaled three saves while taking the loss for the Aggies.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS: Arcadia outshot Delaware Valley 15-10 in the match, holding a 4-3 margin in the first half and an 11-7 edge in the second. The Aggies had a 6-3 advantage on corners in the first half, while the Knights had a 10-6 advantage in the second.
