OWINGS MILL, Md. – The Arcadia University men's soccer team picked up its second straight MAC Commonwealth win Saturday afternoon by defeating Stevenson 4-1. With the win, Arcadia now sits at 8-4-2 on the season, including 2-2-1 in conference play; the Mustangs fell to 3-9-3 and 2-2 in the conference.
HOW IT HAPPENED: The Knights put the pressure on immediately by putting their first two shots on target. The first came just over two minutes in off a header from senior
Brian Martinez on a corner kick, however it was denied. In the 8th minute, sophomore
Manny Camacho took the team's second shot from outside of the 18, chipping the ball over the keeper into the upper right 90 for a 1-0 lead; classmate
Ryan Hammer picked up an assist on the play. The score stood into the second half until senior
Ricardo Margolles took a cross from junior
Bradley McKim from inside the 6-yard box and put it into the back of the net. Freshman
Pat Hartman added a pair of goals late in the half, before Stevenson got on the board with less than five minutes to go.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS: Led by a nine-shot barrage in the second half, the Knights held a 14-11 advantage in total shots, including 9-6 in shots on goal. Corner kicks were abundant in the opening 45 minutes as Arcadia took six to Stevenson's five, however each team was awarded just one in the second half.
IN GOAL: Junior
Chris Watson moved to 8-4-2 on the season as he made five saves. Michael Tringali made four saves while allowing four goals for Stevenson.
