CHESTER, Pa. – The Arcadia University men's soccer team clinched a spot in next week's MAC Commonwealth Championship after it battled conference rival Widener to a 1-1 Tuesday night. The Knights now sit at 9-5-3 on the season with a 3-2-2 conference record, while Widner moved to 3-10-3 overall and 1-4-2 in conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED: Junior
Bradley McKim gave Arcadia the momentum early as he found the back of the net in the second minute after one-touching a short cross from sophomore
Manny Camacho into the back of the net. The Knights held the 1-0 lead until the 81st minute when Dylan Pratzner headed in the game-tying goal that sent the contest to overtime. Arcadia dominated both overtime periods; however key saves late in each extra period from both keepers led the contest to end in a 1-1 draw.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS: Arcadia held a 27-10 advantage in shots, including a 13-2 margin in overtime, with 10 going on frame compared to Widener's five. The Pride came up with a pair of team saves and took three more corners than the Knights.
IN GOAL: Junior
Chris Watson made four saves as he moved to 9-5-3 on the season. Dave Sousa made seven saves for Widener as he moved to 3-9-2.
PLAYOFF BERTH: The tie helped the Knights secure their third-consecutive MAC Commonwealth Championship berth. Arcadia's seed in the playoffs will be determined following Saturday's games.
