No. 13/22 Women’s Soccer Falls to No. 5/8 Messiah 1-0 on Senior Day

GLENSIDE, Pa. – The No. 13/22 Arcadia University women's soccer team suffered a 1-0 setback at the hands of No. 5/8 Messiah Saturday afternoon on Easton Field. The Knights end the regular season 16-2 on the season and 6-2 in MAC Commonwealth play, Messiah's regular season comes to a close at 15-2 overall and 8-0 in conference play.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED: The game's lone goal came in the second minute after the Falcons were awarded a free kick at the top of the box. Missy Biener took the free kick, beating a diving keeper to the left side. The next 88 minutes became a possession battle with Messiah controlling the pace throughout the first half and Arcadia putting the pressure on in the second half.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS: The visitors held a slim 11-10 lead in total shots, however each team put four on frame. The Knights fired nine of their 10 shots in the game's final 45 minutes, after Messiah took eight of its 11 shots in the opening 45 minutes.
 
IN GOAL: Sophomore Evelyn Fiegeles made three saves for Arcadia, but took the loss to fall to 3-2 on the season. Sara Yunez denied four shots to move to 15-2.
 
SENIOR DAY: Prior to today's contest, the Knights recognized its four seniors, Madi Horner, Lennon Kramer, Jackie Glanfield and Karis Poore, for their tremendous contributions to the program over the last four years.
 
PLAYOFF PICTURE: The Knights enter next week's MAC Commonwealth Championship Tournament as the second seed. They will host third-seeded Stevenson Wednesday.
