GLENSIDE, Pa. – The second-seeded Arcadia University women's soccer team is headed to its second straight MAC Commonwealth Championship Game following a 3-0 triumph over third-seeded Stevenson Wednesday night on Easton Field. Senior
Jackie Glanfield was vital to the Knights' success as she factored in on every goal.
MOVING ON: Arcadia (17-2) advances to Saturday's MAC Commonwealth Final, where it will take on top-seeded Messiah (16-2) for the conference title for the second straight year. Game time will be either 5 p.m. or 7:30 p.m.
HOW IT HAPPENED: The Knights set the tone early as junior
Kayla Haberbosch put a cross from Glanfield into the lower right side of the goal on the game's first shot, just 44 ticks after the opening whistle. Four of the next six shots came from Arcadia before Glanfield took a pass from junior
Jess Kelly and was able to breakaway to fire a shot that deflected off the keeper and into the lower right 90 for a 2-0 Arcadia lead in the 19th minute. That score stood through halftime until the 50th minute when Glanfield went back to work. After taking a through ball from Kelly, Glanfield found herself one-on-one with the keeper before she put the ball in the lower left corner.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS: The Knights doubled up the Mustangs in shots, 24-12, while holding a 5-2 advantage in shots on frame. Arcadia took five corner kicks to Stevenson's four, and was called offsides once.
IN GOAL: Sophomore
Evelyn Feigeles made one save as she moved to 4-2 on the season. Tiffany McKee made a pair of saves, but allowed all three goals in the loss for Stevenson.
RECORD FALLS: Haberbosch's goal moved her into sole possession of the single-season points record with 44 points. The previous record was set in 2013 by
Kim Canfield.
