GLENSIDE – The Arcadia University men's lacrosse team opened the home portion of its schedule with a 12-6 win over the Shenandoah University Hornets on Wednesday. The Knights and the Hornets both move to 2-2 on the season.
The Scarlet and Grey got out to a quick start as it jumped out to an early 2-0 lead courtesy of goals from freshman
Nick Ferraro and sophomore
Matt Mignogna less than three minutes in.
With a 4-3 lead early in the second quarter, Mignogna struck again starting a four goal spurt that helped the Knights run to an 8-3 advantage with 12:48 to go in the third quarter; Jacovino tallied the final two goals of the run. Rookie
Jay Horner netted the Knights final two goals, first with 24 ticks remaining in the third quarter then with 2:41 left in the fourth quarter.
Jacovino pocketed a team-high three goals, while handing out a team-leading three assists. Horner, Ferraro, Mignogna and junior
Kenny Grant all added two goals; junior defender
Casey Fayan also scored.
Sophomore
A.J. Beck made 15 saves to pick his the win in his first start between the pipes season. Ben Judy picked took the loss making a dozen saves.
Arcadia takes some time off before returning to the field on March 19 when it travels to Swarthmore.
