LANGHORNE, Pa. – The Arcadia University softball team is on a four game winning streak following a sweep of Cairn University Thursday. The Knights took the first game 30-0 behind what is believed to be the first perfect game in program history thrown by
Erin Wilson; the senior struck out all 15 batters faced. The Scarlet and Grey went on to take game two by a score of 40-0. The scoring outputs are the highest known single game scoring totals in program history.
IN THE CIRCLE: Wilson picked up her fifth win of the season, moving to 5-3, while throwing 39 strikes on 52 pitches. A dozen of her strike outs came swinging, including a span of eight straight from the end of the first inning through the beginning of the fourth. In game two, Resh fanned eight as she allowed just one hit en route to her second straight win. Katelynn Loveless suffered both losses in the circle for Cairn.
KNIGHTS AT BAT: Arcadia hit .562 on the day, with four Knights playing in both games. Freshman Kristen Cancelliere was 5-10 with nine RBI and five runs scored, while sophomore
Nicole Iasiello went 4-7 with seven RBI and a day-high 10 runs scored. Rookie Jackie Billotti went 4-9, driving in seven and scoring nine runs; while senior
Sara Boyadjis had a 3-8 day that included three walks, three stolen bases, four RBI and six run scored. Wilson helped herself in the day's opener, going 1-2 with four walks, three RBI and a pair of runs scored, while Resh put together a 3-6 day at the plate with three RBI and three runs scored in the night cap.
RECORD SETTING DAY: The two scoring outputs are the two highest known totals in program history, surpassing last season's 29 runs scored against Sarah Lawrence. The 39 RBI in the second game is good the second-most in NCAA Division III history, trailing only Beloit College's 42 back in 2009. Game two's 40- runs tie Arcadia for eighth in Division III history.
