FREDERICK, Md. – The Arcadia University softball team battled to a split at Hood College Sunday afternoon, falling 6-2 in game one before taking game two 8-5. The Knights sit at 14-10 on the season with a 3-7 conference mark.
Game 1: Hood 6, Arcadia 2
HOW IT HAPPENED: The Blazers scored twice in each the second and third innings to jump out to a 4-0 lead before sophomore

Jackie Bilotti with a single up the middle. The hosts added one more in the top of the sixth with an infield single before senior
Alicia McMahon singled through the right side to score freshman
Kayla Resh in the seventh.
ARCADIA AT THE PLATE: The Knights mustered up five hits the game, led by a 2-3 outing from Hess. Bilottii's lone hit of the game was a double.
HOOD AT THE PLATE: The hosts banged out 15 hits in the opener, led by a 4-4 outing from Ashley Fourcade. Kristy Efurdt and Shelby Alcorn each went 3-4 with two RBI.
IN THE CIRCLE: Senior
Sarah Gunia suffered the loss, falling to 6-2 allowing five runs on nine hits with two walks and three strikeouts. Kayli Paugh earned the win allowing two runs on five hits with a walk and no strikeouts.
Game 2: Arcadia 8, Hood 6
HOW IT HAPPENED: Sophomore
Tori Zaccaria opened the scoring in the fifth with a two run home run to center. The Knights added three more in the sixth, highlighted by RBI singles by McMahon and Zaccaria. The hosts plated three in the sixth, pulling to a 5-3 deficit heading to the seventh. Hess sent a two-run homer to left center in the seventh, before McMahon recorded an RBI single up the middle to cap Arcadia's scoring.; Efurdt recorded a two-RBI home run in the bottom of the frame to count for the final Blazer runs.
ARCADIA AT THE PLATE: Five Knights recorded multi-hit hit games, led by a 3-4 outing by McMahon. Hess and classmate
Nicole Iasiello each went 2-4 with two runs scored.
HOOD AT THE PLATE: Krfurdt and Kaylee Krietz each went 2-4 with a run scored to lead the Blazer offense.
IN THE CIRCLE: Senior
Erin Wilson picked up the win after allowing five runs on eight hits with four strikeouts. Sophia Leaman took the loss for Hood.
