Men’s Lacrosse Drops 11-2 Decision to Scranton

GLENSIDE, Pa. – The Arcadia University men's lacrosse team dropped an 11-2 midweek decision to the visiting University of Scranton Royals at Easton Field on Wednesday. The Royals moved to 10-3 on the season, while the Knights fell to 2-9.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED: Scranton took an early 3-0 lead on goals from Nick Mullery, Matt Haemmerle, and Mattias Jones. Senior Chris Jacovino was able to get the Knights on board with 4:24 on the clock in the first quarter off a pass from junior Joe Stanton. Mullery started a 7-0 run for the Royals, which featured three scores from Alec Mikrut, to put the game away. Stanton would break up the run with a goal off a feed from junior Kenny Grant in the fourth period.
 
ARCADIA LEADERS: Stanton led the Knights with two points on a goal and an assist, while Jacovino had one goal. Senior Tyler Hiller and sophomore Steve McCrossin each caused two turnovers and picked up two ground balls.
 
SCRANTON LEADERS: Mikrut led the Royals with three goals, while Mullery added two goals and three assists for five points. Haemmerle had two goals and two helpers for four points. Adam Drury was 12 of 15 on faceoffs in the game.
 
IN GOAL: Nicholas McKaba allowed one goal and made five saves in 45 minutes of work for Scranton, while Jeff Sabatini gave up one goal and made three saves in the final period. Sophomore A.J. Beck played all 60 minutes in goal for Arcadia, making 16 saves and giving up 11 goals.
