WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Arcadia University men's lacrosse team suffered a 16-8 setback in its conference opener at Lycoming Saturday afternoon. The loss drops the Knights to 2-6 overall and 0-1 in conference play, while Lycoming improves to 2-6 overall and 1-0 in conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED: Sophomore
Matt Mignogna opened the scoring just over a minute and a half in, before the Warriors tallied three straight for a 3-1 lead with 8:33 to go in the first quarter. Senior
Chris Jacovino and junior
Joe Stanton scored less than a minute apart, tying the game at three with just over seven minutes to go in the opening quarter, however the hosts netted the final eight goals of the half for an 11-3 lead at the break. Each team would score five goals in the second half.
ARCADIA LEADERS: Jacovino, Stanton and junior
Kenny Grant each found the back of the net twice, while Mignogna and rookie
Brandon Feeney scored once. Mignogna dished out a team-high three assists.
LYCOMING LEADERS: Sean Reilly had a game-high 11 points on six goals and five assists. Tim Breau added seven points on five goals and two assists.
IN GOAL: Freshman
Danny Lipkin took the loss allowing 11 goals and making three saves in 30 minutes of work; sophomore
A.J. Beck played the remaining 30 minutes allowing five goals and making nine saves. Joshua Tscheulin picked up the win for Lycoming making seven saves.
