3-2 Walk off Win in Game 1, 5-2 Game 2 Win Give Softball Sweep of Lebanon Valley on Senior Day

GLENSIDE, Pa. – The Arcadia University softball team busted out the brooms Saturday afternoon, sweeping conference rival Lebanon Valley on Blankley Field. The Knights used a walk off, two-RBI triple from freshman Kayla Resh to claim a 3-2 win in game one, and a four-run second inning to take game two 5-2. The Scarlet and Grey improved to 20-16 on the season and 6-8 in conference play, while the Dutchmen fell to 17-15 on the year and 7-7 in the conference.

Game 1: Arcadia 3, Lebanon Valley 2

HOW IT HAPPENED: After scoring a run in both the first and sixth innings, Lebanon Valley held a 2-0 lead heading to the bottom of the seventh. Arcadia erupted for four straight hits with two outs in the frame; senior Alicia McMahon started the streak with a single through the right side. The next batter, senior Erin Wilson, singled up the middle and advanced to second on the throw, rookie pinch runner Marissa Giberson moved to third on the play. A single down the left-field line from senior Nicki Larro drove in Giberson and set up a first and third situation for Resh. The frosh belted the ball to left field, out of the reach of the diving fielder, plating Wilson from third and Larro from first.

KNIGHTS AT THE PLATE: Five different players recorded a base knock for the Scarlet and Grey, including a double by freshman Jackie Bilotti and Resh's triple.

DUTCHMEN AT THE PLATE: The Dutchmen had five hits in the game, with two coming from each Emily Johnson and Jordyn Miller; each had an RBI.

IN THE CIRCLE: The win moved Wilson to 9-7 on the year as she allowed two runs on five hits with four strikeouts and a walk. Haley Neff took the loss for Lebanon Valley allowing three runs on five hits with two walks and no strikeouts.

Game 2: Arcadia 5, Lebanon Valley 2

HOW IT HAPPENED: The Knights scored early in the night cap, as senior Sara Boyadjis singled in sophomore Kaylee Zarick for the game's first run in the bottom of the seventh. A fielding error by Lebanon Valley allowed senior Sarah Gunia to reach safely in the next at-bat to extend the inning. Bilotti plated Boyadjis and Gunia with a double to left center, before crossing the dish herself on a single through the left side from sophomore Amanda Hess. McMahon drove in the Knights' final run with a single to right that brought home Bilotti. Lebanon Valley tallied twice in the fifth to cap the scoring.

KNIGHTS AT THE PLATE:  Led by a 3-4 performance from sophomore Nicole Iasiello, Arcadia posted 11 hits in the game. Bilotti and Boyadjis each recorded two base knocks, while Hess, McMahon, Zarick and Resh each had one; Bilotti drove in two and scored twice.
