READING, Pa. – The Arcadia University women's lacrosse team dropped a 19-8 MAC Commonwealth matchup at Albright College Wednesday, dropping its record to 4-5 overall and 0-2 in conference play. The Lions improved to 6-4 for the season and 1-1 in MAC Commonwealth contests with the win.
HOW IT HAPPENED: It was a one-goal game midway through the first half following junior
Erin Misner's tally made it 3-2 in favor of Albright. Amanda Smith found the back of the net twice in a span of 40 seconds to start a six-goal run for the Lions, which was capped by Sophie Bass' tally with 8:43 remaining in the first half that gave Albright a 9-2 lead. The Lions led 11-4 at the half and led by as many as 13 after Casey Stocker's goal made it 17-4 eight minutes into the second half. The Knights scored four in a row over the next 12 minutes to cut it to 17-8, but that's as close as they would get the rest of the way.
ARCADIA LEADERS: Senior
Dawn Faranetta scored two goals and assisted on another to lead the Knights. Classmate
Jessica Santoli and Misner also finished with a pair of goals. Misner also collected six draw controls and two ground balls.
ALBRIGHT LEADERS: Marriah Cullen scored five goals with one assist and four draw controls, while Amanda Smith netted four goals and also picked up four draw controls. Erin Farrell scored three goals with four draw controls, three ground balls and two draw controls.
IN GOAL: Emily Hutson allowed eight goals and totaled six saves in her 54:29 in goal to record the win, while Hayley Joyce didn't face a shot on goal in the final 5:31 for the Lions. Senior
Jordyn Dunacusky took the loss after allowing 15 goals with four saves in her 31:23 in goal for Arcadia, dropping her record to 4-5. Junior
Brittany Hodson allowed four goals with one stop over the final 28:37.
