Softball Falls to Cabrini in Game-Two of ECAC South Championship 6-4, Evening Series 1-1

GLENSIDE, Pa. – The Arcadia University softball team dropped the second game of the 2016 ECAC Division IIUI South Championship Saturday to visiting Cabrini College by a final count of 6-4 at Blankley Field. That loss evened the series at 1-1 and set the stage for a winner-take-all third game that will take place Sunday at 10 a.m. in Glenside.

HOW IT HAPPENED: The lead changed hands a couple times in the early going and was tied 2-2 heading to the top of the sixth, where Cabrini (25-17) scored four times to regain the lead for good. Emily Smull put the Cavaliers ahead with an RBI single to center and later scored the game-winning run on Taylor Mack's RBI single that also landed in center field.

Arcadia (24-19) attempted to rally in the bottom of the seventh, scoring runs on sophomore Amanda Hess' double to center and senior Nicki Larro's single to left with just one out, but those proved to be the final runs of the game. Senior Sara Gunia flied out to Christin Ferraro for the second out of the inning before Bilotti was robbed of a hit by Ferraro's diving catch to end the game.

ON THE HILL: Jess Giordano improved to 14-6 after allowing four runs on 10 hits. Senior Erin Wilson took the loss in game two after picking up the win in game-one, allowing four runs (two earned) on six hits in two-plus innings of relief, dropping her record to 11-9.

ARCADIA AT BAT: The Knights registered 10 hits in the game, with sophomore Tori Zaccaria going 3 for 4 with a double and a run scored. Guunia and Larro were both 1 for 3 with an RBI, while sophomore Nicole Iasiello and Hess were 1 for 4 and drove in one run each.

CABRINI AT BAT: The Cavaliers totaled 14 hits in the game, led by a 3 for 4 performance for Darian Caputo, who had three singles and scored a run. Kaitlyn Cooper was 2 for 4 with a double, two RBI and a run scored, while Lindsay Savar and Emily Smull were both 2 for 4 with one run scored and another driven in.
