SCRANTON, Pa. – The Arcadia University men's soccer team opened the 2016 season at Marywood Thursday night, walking away with a 4-1 victory fueled by a two-goal, three-assist game from junior
Bradley McKim. The win breaks a streak of three straight season openers in which the Knights and Pacers finished in a draw.
HOW IT HAPPENED: The Knights wasted little time scoring their first goal of the season, as junior
Ryan Keeter found the back of the net just over four minutes into the contest. The hosts tied the game at one early in the second half, before McKim took over. After collection his own rebound following a saved penalty kick, McKim put the Scarlet and Grey back up one less than five minutes into the second half. A few minutes later, classmate
Georges Fiori fed McKim through the defense leading to the latter's second marker of the game.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS: Arcadia outshot the Pacers 14-11, including 8-6 in shots on goal. The Knights also bested the hosts in corner kicks with a 6-3 advantage.
ARCADIA LEADERS: McKim put in a five-point night after adding an assist on Arcadia's fourth goal to accompany his goals; he led the way in the offensive end with five total shots. Keeter and freshman
Brandon Pryor each earned two points with a goal, while Fiori handed out one assist.
MARYWOOD LEADERS: Matthew Hull scored the Pacers lone goal unassisted. Zach Oster fired four shots, all of which went on goal.
IN GOAL: Junior
Chris Watson made five saves on the night to pick up the win. Tommy McGlennon also denied four shots while suffering the loss.
UP NEXT: The Knights take on Eastern Saturday afternoon in the home opener. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
