Field Hockey Edged in Overtime at Wilkes, 3-2

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Arcadia University field hockey team fell to 0-4 for the season after falling in overtime at Wilkes University Saturday by a final count of 3-2. The Colonels evened their record at 2-2 with the win.

HOW IT HAPPENED: The Knights got on the board first as sophomore Gabby Sedares took a feed from junior Lindsay Tobey and lifted it over the top of Wilkes goalkeeper Dallas Kendra just under 10 minutes into the match. A similar play allowed Taylor Ryan to tie the game with just five seconds remaining in the first half, and Marissa Surdy deflected the ball in just 1:33 into the second half to give Wilkes the lead. Sophomore Lindsay Bechtold tied the match in the 51st-minute with her first goal of the year to eventually send the game to overtime, where Surdy scored her second of the contest 3:46 in to give the Colonels the win.

IN GOAL: Kendra recorded just one save while earning the win in goal and improved her record to 2-2, while Amanda Tredinnick had a defensive stop on a shot from senior Allie Hines midway through the first half. Senior Brittany Hodson fell to 0-4 after making five saves for the Knights.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: Arcadia nearly pulled out the win despite being outshot 14-5 in the match. Wilkes held a 7-5 advantage on penalty corners and had the lone defensive stop that prevented the Knights from taking a 2-0 lead in the opening period.
