Women’s Volleyball Wraps Up Stevens Ducks Classic With 3-1 Setback to Oswego

HOBOKEN, N.J. – The Arcadia University women's volleyball team finished up the Stevens Ducks Classic Saturday afternoon with a 3-1 setback to Oswego State. The Knights went 1-2 on the weekend, and sit at 4-6 on the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED: The Lakers took control of the first set early, as they scored the first six points. The Knights fought back to bring the score to 8-5 in favor of Oswego, however the Lakers went on a five point run to open their lead to eight. A quick four point run highlighted by kills from senior MaKenna Micklus and sophomore Becca Campf pulled the Knights within four, but that's as close as the set would get. The second set went in similar fashion, before the Knights forced a fourth set with a 25-21 win in set three. Trailing 11-8 in the third set, Campf and rookie Shannon Ryan highlighted a four-point run that put Arcadia up 12-11. The Knights went on to build a 22-17 lead before Campf finished the game with a kill. The Lakers pulled away with an early four point run in the fourth set to take a 9-5 lead. The Knights got within two at 24-22, before Oswego claimed the win.
 
ARCADIA'S LEADERS: Ryan led the all players with 11 kills, while Campf was the most efficient hitter at 50%. Ryan, along with Resh, recorded five service aces apiece to lead the team. Rookie Emily Eng led all players in digs with 20. Junior Colleen Stengel record a game-high 26 assists.
 
OSWEGO'S LEADERS: Emma Moriarty led the Lakers with nine kills, while Lindsey Champitto led the way with 15 assists. Defensively, Jessica Long registered a team-high 11 digs.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS: Overall, the Lakers outscored Arcadia 62-53 while hitting 16.7%; the Knights hit just 7.9%.
