Lebanon Valley Slips Past Women’s Volleyball Team, 3-2

GLENSIDE, Pa. – The Arcadia University women's volleyball team dropped a tightly contested 3-2 MAC Commonwealth match to visiting Lebanon Valley College Wednesday night at Alumni Gymnasium. The Dutchmen improved to 7-2 overall and 3-0 in conference play with their fifth straight win, while the Knights record fell to 5-7 overall and 1-2 in conference play.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED: After falling behind early in the first game, Arcadia used a four-point run to take the lead for good at 15-12 and used another four-point surge to go up 21-16 on its way to a 25-20 win in the opener. Lebanon Valley closed the second game with a 6-2 run for a 25-22 win, and used an eight-point run that turned a 15-11 deficit into a 19-15 lead on its way to a 25-21 win in the third game. The Knights trailed 25-24 before rattling off three points in a row to win the fourth game 27-25 to force a fifth and deciding set, which saw LVC won with a 5-1 run to close out the match with 15-10 final.
 
ARCADIA LEADERS: Sophomore Becca Campf had an impressive hitting performance, hitting 80-percent with 10 kills and no errors on 13 swings. Senior MaKenna Micklus had 12 kills and five digs, while sophomore Lizzie Joseph totaled 12 kills and six digs. Freshman Shannon Ryan added nine kills, seven digs and three aces. Junior Colleen Stengel notched a match-high 45 assists with seven digs, while freshman Emily Eng led the team with 20 digs to go with three aces.
 
LEBANON VALLEY LEADERS: Jess Attieh hit 38-percent while recording a match-high 24 kills, while Gretta Weidemoyer hit 41-percent with 13 kills, 23 assists and four digs. Erin Koons added 22 assists, six digs and four aces, while Morgan Webb had a match-high 21 digs.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS: Lebanon Valley had a narrow 73-70 scoring edge in the match, holding the lead in kills (54-52) and aces (15-10) while Arcadia held the margin in blocks (8-4). The Dutchmen hit 23 percent as a team, while the Knights hit 20 percent.
