GLENSIDE, Pa. – The No. 14/20 Arcadia University women's soccer team moved to 10-0 Saturday afternoon with a 2-0 win over Wilkes on Easton Field, extending its program-record winning streak to 12 games, dating back to last season. Senior
Jackie Glanfield and sophomore
Ghil Joseph found the back of the net for Arcadia.
HOW IT HAPPENED: The first half of play was balanced in terms of offensive pressure, however Glanfield was first to put the ball in the net. Off a corner in the 31st minute, junior
Jess Kelly headed a corner kick to the top of the box where Glanfield was able to put the ball in the upper left 90. The Knights controlled the pace of play in the second half with numerous chances to increase their lead. Joseph did just that in the 82nd minute. The sophomore took advantage of a fortuitous rebound off a
Lennon Kramer shot that rang off the left post to beat the keeper far side.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS: Two of Arcadia's seven first half shots went on goal, while the visitors were able to put one of five shots on target. The second half was much different as the Knights fired 14 shots in over the final 45 minutes, while holding the opposition to five. In the corner kick department, the Scarlet and Grey took four in each half, while Wilkes totaled three in the game.
IN GOAL: Freshman
Taelor Rivera improved to 9-0 as she made three saves for the Knights. Alyssa Young and Kendall Koch each allowed a goal in 45 minutes of play; Young took the loss to fall to 1-5 on the season.
UP NEXT: The Knights now turn their collective attention to MAC Commonwealth play, which begins next Saturday at Lycoming.
