HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Arcadia University women's soccer team moved to 2-0 Saturday afternoon with a 1-0 victory over Haverford to open the Haverford Kickoff Classic. Senior
Lennon Kramer scored in the 55th minute to give the Knights the win, while also tying the program record for career goals at 43. The win is the program's first-ever victory over Haverford.
HOW IT HAPPENED: Arcadia put pressure on the Fords' defense early taking the game's first four shots, including a header from Kramer in which Ford keeper Kathy Prescott had to make a save. The roles were reversed at the beginning of the second half as rookie goalkeeper
Taelor Rivera was forced to make a pair of quick saves just minutes into her collegiate debut. The tides changed minutes later as sophomore
Kayla Haberbosch rifled a shot off the crossbar less than a minute before senior
Jackie Glanfield found Kramer with a cross with which Kramer put in the left side of the goal.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS: Arcadia registered 13 total shot attempts in the contest, however were outshot 8-6 in shots on goal.. The Knights took three corner kicks in each half, while the Fords, who took just one in the opening frame, finished with nine.
IN GOAL: Rivera picked up the win in her debut as she made three saves in the second half. Sophomore
Evelyn Feigeles started the game for Arcadia and made fivesaves. Prescott made five saves for Haverford.
CHASING HISTORY: Kramer will claim sole possession of Arcadia's all-time goals record with her next goal, passing Maria DeGeorge. She already holds the Knight's game-winning goals record with 13.
UP NEXT: Arcadia will play either Washington and Lee at 1 p.m. in the championship game.
