GLENSIDE, Pa. – The Arcadia University women's volleyball team dropped a 3-0 MAC Commonwealth match to visiting Hood College Wednesday night at Alumni Gymnasium. The Blazers evened their record at 3-3, while the Knights fell to 2-4. It was the first conference match of the season for both teams.
HOW IT HAPPENED: The Blazers opened the first game with a six-point run and never looked back on their way to a 25-13 win in the opener, and jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the third on their way to a 25-7 win to close out the match. The Knights got out to a 9-3 lead in the second game and led 23-21 late, but were unable to close it out as Hood went on to take the set 27-25.
ARCADIA LEADERS: Senior
MaKenna Micklus led the way with six kills and nine digs. Sophomore
Katie Wilson also had six kills, while freshman
Kaylee Bumpus had 17 assists.
HOOD LEADERS: Elena Zinaich hit 64 percent while totaling a match-high 10 kills with one error on 14 attempts, while Kari Betson added seven kills with a match-high 10 digs. Payton Belella handed out a match-high 23 assists with eight digs.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS: Hood hit 21 percent as a team in the match as it outscored Arcadia 42-23. The Knights had a negative attack percentage after totaling just 19 kills and 31 attack errors.
