GLENSIDE, Pa. – The Arcadia University women's basketball team dropped a 75-57 decision to Stevenson Saturday afternoon in Alumni Gymnasium. Leading 51-47 after three quarters, the visitors outscored the hosts 24-10 in the fourth quarter. The Knights fell to 6-12 on the season and 2-6 in MAC Commonwealth play, while the Mustangs improved to 12-6 overall and 7-2 in conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED: The Mustangs took control early, leading by as many as eight over the first six plus minutes of play, however the five different Knights scored as part of a first quarter ending 12-6 six run to cut the deficit to 20-18 after one period of play. After an exchanging of slim leads to open the second half, Stevenson closed the third quarter by shooting 7-9 from the floor to take a 51-47 lead to the decisive fourth quarter. Using a 10-12 shooting performance over the final 10 minutes, the Mustangs controlled the period, outscoring Arcadia 24-10.
ARCADIA LEADERS: Senior
Maureen Fiocca led all scorers with 23 points on 8-14 (57.1%) shooting. Sophomore
Susan Bossler contributed nine points, while Hoffman and sophomore
Olivia Roseman each added seven. Cyr led the way off the glass with five rebounds, while Roseman matched a game-high four assists.
STEVENSON LEADERS: Sara Tarbert led Stevenson with 22 points on 10-13 shooting and 12 rebounds. She was joined in double figures by Jonyae Curry (15) and Kaitlyn Van Tash (14). Curry pulled in eight boards and matched Van Tash's four assists.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS: Arcadia shot 38.5% (20-52) from the field, including 4-8 (50%) from beyond the arc, while converting 13-16 (81.3%) at the free throw line. Fueled by a 79.2% (19-24) shooting in the second half, the Mustangs finished the game 32-54 (59.3%) from the field, but just 3-11 (27.3%) from distance, while converting 8-10 (80%) from the charity stripe.
