OWINGS MILLS, Md. – The Arcadia University men's swimming team closed out the dual meet portion of the 2016-17 campaign with a 119-48 victory at Stevenson University Saturday.
FOR THE RECORD: The Knights finished the dual meet season with a record of 7-2, tying the program record for wins set last season. The Mustangs finished the dual meet season with a record of 0-10.
BACKSTROKE: Senior
Eric Lam was fastest in the 100 and 200 events, posting times of 57.89 and 2:04.01. Freshman
Dylan Gardner was second to Lam in both events with respective times of 1:00.18 and 2:11.80.
BREASTSTROKE: Junior
Chris Nicolescu won the 100 after touching the wall in 1:01.76, while freshman
T.J. Dalton was fastest in the 200 with his time of 2:19.05.
BUTTERFLY: Junior
Jacob Schellinger won the 200 in 2:05.21 and was second fastest in the 100 with his time of 54.73. Freshman
Tristan Highet was fastest in the 100 after turning in a time of 54.61.
DISTANCE: Freshman
Reed French was the victor in the 1,000 with a time of 11:32.07, while junior
Grant Fisher turned in the top time in the 500 after touching the wall in 5:08.87.
SPRINTS: Senior
Matthew Morano and sophomore
Michael Melissen posted a one-two finish in the 200 with respective times of 1:48.67 and 1:51.0. Morano also led a one-two finish in the 100 with his time of 49.03, touching ahead of sophomore
A.J. Cawley's second-place time of 50.70. Freshman
Tristan Highet won the 50 in 22.27, while Cawley and freshman
Mark Preedy placed second and third with respective times of 23.13 and 23.17.
INDIVIDUAL MEDLEY: Lam led the way in the 200 IM with his time of 2:05.43, while Melissen was second in 2:08.69.
RELAYS: The Knights had the top-two 200 medley relays, led by the first-place pairing of Lam, Nicolescu, Schellinger and Preedy that clocked in at 1:42.26. The group of Gardner, freshman
Colin Naturale, Highet and Cawley placed second in 1:45.05. The 200 freestyle relay of Highet, Cawley, Melissen and Morano finished first with their time of 1:31.33.
NEXT UP: The Knights will next compete at the Middle Atlantic Conference Championships February 9-12 at the Graham Aquatic Center in York.
