Men’s Soccer Battles to 2-2 Draw in Clash with Pride

GLENSIDE, Pa. – The Arcadia University men's soccer team battled conference rival Widener to a 2-2 draw in a tightly contested match on Jean Lenox West Field Tuesday night. A fast-paced first half saw all four goals scored, before the goalkeepers and defenses took over.
 
FOR THE RECORD:
  • The Knights moved to 8-4-2 on the year and 2-3-1 on the MAC Commonwealth.
  • The Pride are now 3-6-4 and 0-3-2 in conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • With the assist from Ryan Hammer, junior R.J. White scored the first goal of the game for the Knights in the 4th minute.
  • Junior Kyle Cevallos put the Knights up 2-1 in the 16th minute, firing a shot into the top left corner of the net off a deflected corner kick.
  • Widener scored its goals in the 11th and 31st minutes.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Arcadia outshot their opposition 29-23, including a 12-10 advantage in shots on target.
  • The Scarlet and Gray took six shots in the first overtime period, while holding the Pride without a single shot attempt.
  • Arcadia's mounting pressure lead to a 7-5 margin in corner kicks.
  • Senior Chris Watson made eight saves for the Knights.
  • Freshman Harun Abdullahi and junior Sam Hernandez led the attack with five total shots, while five different Knights put two shots on goal each.
NOTES:
  • This is the second straight tie between Arcadia and Widener.
  • Watson moved into third place all-time with 311 career saves; he also took sole possession of third on the all-time wins list with 31.
STILL TO COME:
  • The Knights play their next two games on the road, beginning at Staten Island this Saturday.
  • The Scarlet and Grey conclude the regular season October 28 against Albright.
