Women’s Volleyball Sets Program Win Record on Senior Day

GLENSIDE, Pa. – The Arcadia University women's volleyball team downed Widener 3-0 Thursday night in conference action. The win gave the Knights 20 on the season, setting a new single-season program record. Prior to the match, Arcadia recognized senior Colleen Stengel for her dedication and contributions to the program over the past four seasons.
 
FOR THE RECORD:
  • The Scarlet and Grey hold a 20-10 record on the season and finish 7-1 against MAC Commonwealth foe
  • The Pride fell to 10-19 and 3-5 in the conference
MAKING HISTORY:
  • Arcadia's 20th win of the year is the most in program history
  • The previous record of 19 was set by the 2001 team
SET SCORES:
  • 25-18, 25-18, 25-21
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • In what proved to be a back-and-forth first set in which each team started with short chunks then moved to longer runs, freshman Allison Elechko recorded three kills over Arcadia's set-ending, four-point spurt.
  • The Knights battled back from an early deficit in the second set, scoring nine straight points to jump in front by a 15-12 margin. The lead expanded to 19-13 before Widener came back within one. With freshman Lauren Enfield on serve, Arcadia scored the final six points of the set as Elechko and classmate Maddie Sehrt each recorded two kills.
  • In the third set, Arcadia held the advantage for most of the set ultimately holding off a late rally from the Pride to win the match on a kill by Sehrt.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Sehrt led all players with 13 kills while hitting 65% and added a match-high six block assists
  • Elechko registered 11 kills and two block assists
  • Junior Becca Campf hit 42.9% with seven kills
  • Freshman Julia Paliwodzinski totaled a match-best 34 assists
  • Sophomore Emily Eng led the way with 14 digs
  • Arcadia scored 55 points on 42 kills, five aces and eight blocks
  • The Prided totaled 36 points on 29 kills, three aces and four blocks
NOTES:
  • The win is the Knights' second straight against the Pride
  • The Knights have won six of their last seven matches
  • Sehrt has 43 blocks assists on the year, the third most in a single season; she sits three back of tying the single season record
