GLENSIDE, Pa. – The Arcadia University field hockey team continued MAC Commonwealth play Saturday afternoon, falling 3-1 to Alvernia on Jean Lenox West Field.
FOR THE RECORD: The Knights now hold an 8-5 record on the year, and 1-2 mark in conference action. The Golden Wolves sit at 6-6 overall and 2-1 in MAC Commonwealth play.
HOW IT HAPPENED: The visitors scored the game's first two markers, before freshman
Michaela Ferlow buried a rebound off a shot by junior
Lindsay Bechtold into the back of the net in the 34
th minute to get the Knights on the board. Arcadia turned up the pressure in the second half with seven shots. The Knights responded to Alvernia's third tally aggressively, with two shots and two penalty corners in the next three minutes. Senior
Liz Stierle came up big in the waning minutes with a defensive save.
ARCADIA LEADERS: Stierle led the Scarlet and Grey with three shots, including two on goal. Bechtold put both of her shot attempts on cage while registering the assist on Ferlow's goal.
ALVERNIA LEADERS: Andrea Wysocki, Morgan Mondschein and Regan Downey each scored a goal for the Golden Wolves; Mondschein also added an assist.
IN GOAL: Sophomore
Ashton Evans (0-1) made three saves for Arcadia. Alvernia's Emma Beamesderfer (5-6) allowed one goal and made four saves.
