No. 2 Women’s Volleyball Bests No.3 Lebanon Valley 3-1 to Advance to First MAC Commonwealth Championship Game in Program History

GLENSIDE, Pa. – The second-seeded Arcadia University women's volleyball team took down third-seeded Lebanon Valley 3-1 in the MAC Commonwealth Championship Semifinal Wednesday night. The win sends the Knights to the MAC Commonwealth Championship Final for the first time in program history.
 
FOR THE RECORD:
  • The Scarlet and Grey extend their program-best record to 23-10
  • The Dutchmen fall to 16-14
SET SCORES:
  • 25-19, 25-21, 19-25, 25-22
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Knights set the tone early by scoring the match's first five points. After leading by as many as seven in the opening set, Arcadia claimed game one 25-19.
  • Trailing by one early in the second set, Arcadia went on an 11-4 run to take control by a 16-10 margin. The visitors battled back to take the lead, however the Knights recorded the final seven points of the set, capped off by an ace from junior Kayla Resh.
  • Lebanon Valley forced a fourth set after claiming a back-and-forth third game 25-19.
  • Neither team gained complete control of the match's final set. After trading small leads throughout the game, Arcadia clinched its spot in the conference title match with a three-point spurt capped by an ace by sophomore Emily Eng.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • The Knights scored 59 points on 41 kills with seven aces and 11 blocks
  • Lebanon Valley totaled 57 points on 42 kills with six aces and nine blocks
  • Junior Lizzie Joseph and freshman Lauren Enfield each registered double-digit kills with 11 and 10, respectively. Enfield capped the double-double with 20 digs.
  • Freshman Julia Paliwodzinski led the Knights with 32 digs
  • Eng, Enfield and Resh each had a pair of aces
  • Freshman Maddie Sehrt totaled seven block assists
  • Eng led all players with 21 digs
NOTES:
  • The win is Arcadia's first in the MAC Commonwealth Championship tournament since joining the league in 2008.
  • Joseph jumped into ninth on the all-time kills list with 508 and eighth in block assists
  • Paliwodzinski's 579 assists this season are the ninth most in any season in program history.
  • Eng moved into the top spot on the single-season digs list with 498, while Sehrt tops the single-season block assists list with 51

  • The Scarlet and Grey travel to top-seeded Stevenson Saturday for the MAC Commonwealth Championship Final. First serve is set for 2 p.m.
