Abdullahi, McKim Power Men’s Soccer Over Neumann in ECAC Opener

GLENSIDE, Pa. – Freshman Harun Abdullahi and senior Bradley McKim combined for eight points on the stat sheet, including all three goals in the top-seeded Arcadia University men's soccer team's 3-1 win over fourth-seeded Neumann Saturday afternoon in the First Round of the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Championship Tournament. The win is Arcadia's first-ever win in the ECAC tournament.
 
FOR THE RECORD:
  • The Knights now own a 13-5-2 record
  • Neumann fell to 8-9-1
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Abdullahi and McKim connected twice within a minute and a half span to put Arcadia up 2-0 heading into halftime
  • McKim opened the scoring by finishing a cross from Abdullahi into the upper right 90 in the 29th minute
  • Abdullahi finished a feed from McKim in the 30th minute
  • After Neumann scored  on an individual effort in the 50th minute, McKim tallied his second goal of the day unassisted in the 69th minute
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
  • Arcadia outshot the visitors 16-13 in the game, including 6-5 in shots on goal.
  • Senior Chris Watson made four saves to pick up the win
  • McKim and junior Ryan Hammer led all players with four shots
  • Abdullahi and classmate Duncan O'Connor each took three shots
NOTES:
  • Arcadia's win marks the program's first in ECAC competition. This is the team's third appearance in the tournament.
  • Watson moved into a tie for second on the single-season wins list with 12
  • McKim moved into a tie for second on the career goals list with 44
  • The Knights' 13 wins is the most since the 2005 squad did the same
UP NEXT:
  • Arcadia advanced to the Quarterfinals of the tournament tomorrow against Rutgers-Camden. Kickoff is slated for 2 p.m. at Jean Lenox West Field.
