Haberbosch’s Two Goals and Assist Fuel Women’s Soccer’s First-Ever NCAA Tournament Win, Knights down Franklin 3-1

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Senior Kayla Haberbosch found the back of the net twice and handed out an assist on what proved to be the game-winner to lead the Arcadia University women's soccer team to a 3-1 win over Franklin in the First Round of the NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament Saturday night. The win marks the first NCAA tournament win in program-history.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Haberbosch finished a cross from classmate Jess Kelly on the near post in the 79th minute to tie the game at one. Junior Mia Bertolami, who fed Kelly out wide to start the play, also picked up an assist
  • Bertolami netted what proved to be the game-winner in the 83rd minute when she took a one-touch shot off a pass across the top of the box from Haberbosch
  • Haberbosch netted her second goal of the night in the waning seconds of the game, as she buried a rebound off a saved shot from Kelly with seven seconds to go
  • The Grizzlies opened the scoring on a 54th minute goal by Clare Lenart
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Arcadia outshot the opposition 26-6 on the night, including 13-5 in shots on goal.
  • Freshman Brianna Williams made four saves to earn the win
  • Bertolami led all players with seven shots, followed by Haberbosch with six
  • 11 different players took a shot for the Knights
  • The Knights took 11 corners, while the Grizzlies took just two
NOTES:
  • The win marks Arcadia's first-ever victory in the NCAA tournament. This is the Knights' fifth appearance
  • Williams moved into a tie for third place on the single-season wins list with 14
  • Kelly moved into fourth on the all-time points list with 95 and third all-time in assists with 27
  • Haberbosch is now tied for third in career goals with 39
