ABINGTON, Pa. – The Arcadia University men's basketball team slipped past Penn State Abington 99-96 Saturday afternoon for its first win of the season. Junior
Josh Scott scored five points over the final three seconds of game-time, including the go-ahead three with three seconds left. He finished the afternoon with a game-high 33 points.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Trailing by four just over five minutes in, the Scarlet and Grey used a 20-7 run over a 5:04 span to jump in front 35-26 just past the halfway point of the first half. Eight points from junior Phil Pierfy and seven points from sophomore Steve Pendleton fueled the spurt, before Scott extended the lead to 11 a few minutes later.
- Scott converted a pair of free throws with 37 seconds to go until the break to put Arcadia ahead by a game-high 12. It held a nine-point advantage at the break.
- The Nittany Lions took the lead back following a nine-point spurt that ended in a 79-77 lead with 7:53 to go.
- Arcadia ended the game on an 11-2 run. Scott hit a go-ahead three with three seconds on the clock before the team forced a turnover on the ensuing Nittany Lion possession leading to a pair of free throws from Scott.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- The Scarlet and Grey shot 69.2% (18-26) in a 60-point first half, including a 6-9 showing from three. On the night, the Knights shot 58.5% (31-53) from the floor, 61.5% (8-13) from distance and 76.3% (29-38) from the charity stripe.
- Scott's game-high 33 points came on a 10-16 shooting effort from the floor, including 4-6 from three, and a perfect 9-9 from the line; he was joined in double figures by Pierfy (20), senior Brandon Thompson (12) and Pendleton (10).
- The Knights outrebounded the opposition 32-31, led by eight boards from Pierfy and seven from Scott.
- Penn State Abington shot 51.5% from the floor, 40.6% from beyond the arc and 76.5% from the free throw line. Terrance Reese led the team with 26 points.
NOTES:
- The win is the fifth straight for the Knights against Penn State Abington
- Scott's nine free throws moved him into a tie for third on the all-time free throws made list with 201.
- Scott finished one point shy of his career-high 34, which came against Lycoming in February.
