GLENSIDE, Pa. – Visiting Catholic University got the game-winning goal with just one second remaining in the fourth quarter to defeat the Arcadia University men's lacrosse team 9-8 Saturday afternoon at Jean Lenox West Field.
FOR THE RECORD: The Knights fell to 0-2 on the season, while the Cardinals moved to 3-1.
HOW IT HAPPENED: The Knights built momentum early with freshmen
Clo Muscara and
Tanner Pajakinas both finding the back of the net in the game's first five minutes. The next six goals, however, went to Catholic for a 6-2 advantage. Arcadia tallied six of the next eight goals, including two from freshman
Austin Williams to tie the game at eight with 2:52 left in the fourth quarter. Bennett Bradley scored the game-winner for Catholic with one second left on the clock.
ARCADIA LEADERS: Williams led all players with five points on two goals and three assists. Pajakinas scored twice and handed out a pair of assists for four points, with Muscara pocketing a pair of goals. Freshman
Philip Hane was 7-15 at the faceoff dot.
CATHOLIC LEADERS: Bradley led the Cardinals with four points on two goals and two assists. Tony Fisher and Ethan Rodriguez also had multi-point games with two goals and a goal and an assist, respectively. In the faceoff circle, Matt Michalski went 7-13.
IN GOAL: Sophomore
Danny Lipkin (0-2) suffered the loss, as he allowed nine goals while making 15 saves. Alex Mulyk (3-1) garnered the win allowing eight goals and making 11 saves.
