SELLINSGROVE, Pa. – The Arcadia University men's lacrosse team traveled to Susquehanna Wednesday night, falling to the host River Hawks 11-5. The Knights are now 1-4 on the season, while Susquehanna improved to 5-1.
HOW IT HAPPENED: The hosts jumped out to an early lead, scoring the first four goals of the contest. Senior
Joe Stanton and sophomore
Nick Ferraro combined to score two of the next three markers to pull Arcadia within a 5-2 deficit at halftime. After Susquehanna netted five straight to open the second half, the Knights netted four of the game's final five goals.
ARCADIA LEADERS: Ferraro led the way for the Knights with a pair of goals, while freshmen
Austin Williams and
Tanner Pajakinas each registered two points on a goal and an assist and two assists, respectively. Stanton and freshman
Ryan Mahon each scored once.
SUSQUEHANNA LEADERS: Chet McLaughlin scored five goals to lead the River Hawks, while James Harabedian, Jack DiGregorio and Alec Tzaneteas each registered a goal and an assist.
IN GOAL: Sophomore
Danny Lipkin (1-4) made 10 saves while allowing 11 goals in suffering the loss. Dylan Abplanalp made nine saves and allowed two goals in the win for Susquehanna.
BY THE NUMBERS: The River Hawks held a 21-16 advantage in shots on goal and 35-31 in ground balls. The Knights won 10 face offs, compared to nine for the hosts. Neither team scored on an extra man opportunity, as Arcadia went 0-4 and Susquehanna 0-2.
