Box Score 2 GLENSIDE, Pa. – The Arcadia University softball team moved its win streak to six games with a pair of shutout wins over Hood Saturday evening on Blankley Field. The Knights took game one 8-0 in five innings before winning game two 1-0. The Scarlet and Grey now sit at 14-4 on the season and 4-0, while the Blazers fell to 11-8 and 2-4.
GAME 1: ARCADIA 8, HOOD 0 (5 INNING)
HOW IT HAPPENED: Junior
Marissa Mancinelli was the first Knight to cross the plate after scoring on a one-out single through the left side by freshman
Ashley Eckett in the bottom of the second. Two more runs scored in the bottom of the third with the first coming on a single to center by freshman
Mary Pat Murray to plate junior
Amanda Hess from second. Four batters later, junior
Kaylee Zarick singled down the left field to plate Murray from second.
The Knights erupted for five in the bottom of the fifth starting with a one out RBI single to right center from Zarick to plate classmate
Nicole Iasiello. Two batters later, sophomore
Jackie Bilotti came to the plate with the bases loaded before sending a base-clearing double to left center. Sophomore
Kristin Cancelliere ended the game with a single up the middle to score Bilotti from second.
ARCADIA LEADERS: Bilotti went 3-4 in the leadoff spot with a double, three RBI, a run scored and two stolen bases. Zarick went 3-3 at the plate with two-RBI and a stolen base. Zangrilli (2-3) and Eckett (2-3) also recorded multi-hit games.
HOOD LEADERS: The Blazers got one hit each from Kristen Scott and Sophia Leaman.
IN THE CIRCLE: Freshman
Kylee Schwind (7-2) threw five scoreless innings allowing two hits with three walks and five strikeouts. Kayli Paugh (5-3) took the loss allowing eight runs (seven earned) on 14 hits with a walk and five strikeouts.
GAME 2: ARCADIA 1, HOOD 0
HOW IT HAPPENED: The game's lone run scored in the bottom of the fourth, when Zangrilli plated Murray with a one-out single through the left side. Murray led the inning off with a double to left field.
ARCADIA LEADERS: Bilotti led the way with two hits for Arcadia, while Cancelliere, Murray and Zangrilli each registered one base knock.
HOOD LEADERS: Kristy Erfurdt recorded two base hits, while Paugh and Calin Mitchell each had one hit.
IN THE CIRCLE: Murray (5-1) pitched seven scoreless innings allowing four hits with a walk and four strikeouts. Leaman (4-3) took the loss, allowing one run on five hits with two walks and two strikeouts.
