OWINGS MILLS, Md. – The Arcadia University women's lacrosse team suffered a 21-8 setback at Stevenson University Saturday in its first MAC Commonwealth game of the season.
FOR THE RECORD: The Mustangs improved to 4-6 overall and 1-2 in the MAC Commonwealth with their first conference win of the season. The Knights fell to 5-3 overall with the loss.
HOW IT HAPPENED: Freshman
Shannon Ryan gave Arcadia a 1-0 lead with an unassisted tally 3:26 into the game before Carly Bowes first goal of the game started a five-goal run that put Stevenson out in front for good, 5-1. The Knights trailed 11-6 four minutes into the second half after back-to-back goals from Ryan and junior
Nicole Hutson, but that was as close as they would get the rest of the way.
IN GOAL: Mack Ferguson totaled six saves while allowing eight goals to pick up the win for Stevenson. Junior
Liz Stierle gave up 14 goals while making 13 stops in taking the loss for the Knights in her 42 minutes played, while freshman
Molly Naylor allowed seven goals and had two stops over the final 18 minutes..
ARCADIA LEADERS: Ryan finished with three goals, one assist, five ground balls and two draw controls, while senior
Erin Misner also had a three-goal effort. Hutson finished with a pair of goals and three ground balls.
STEVENSON LEADERS: Mackenzie Reese totaled four goals and one assist, while Bowes finished with two goals, three assists and five draw controls. Brady Heher scored three goals with four draw controls, while Olivia Monteiro also scored three times while picking up five draw controls and four ground balls.
