Men’s Lacrosse Picks Up First Conference Win 8-7 at Lebanon Valley

ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Arcadia University men's lacrosse team picked up its first win in MAC Commonwealth play Wednesday night, defeating Lebanon Valley 8-7 on the road. The Knights are now 3-7 on the season and 1-1 in conference play, while the Dutchmen fell to 6-5 and 0-3 in the MAC Commonwealth.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED: Freshman Tanner Pajakinas ­netted his first goal of the contest just shy of four minutes in to give Arcadia the early 1-0 advantage. Lebanon Valley would get on the board with 3:05 to go in the opening frame, before freshman Clo Muscara's first of the day put the Knights ahead 2-1 after 15 minutes of play.
 
The teams combined for six goals in the second quarter beginning with Austin Minnich tying the game at two nine seconds into the frame. Senior Joe Stanton and freshman Austin Williams scored less than a minute apart to put the Knights back in front by two with 13:12 to go until the half. Arcadia took a 6-3 lead to the break following goals from Muscara and classmate Ryan Mahon.
 
A pair of early third quarter goals had the hosts back within one with 11:21 to go in the third before Williams' second of the day extended the lead back to two with 3:16 left in the frame. Pajakinas opened fourth quarter scoring at the 10:11 mark, before Klayton Garman scored the final two goals for Lebanon Valley.
 
ARCADIA LEADERS: The freshmen trio of Pajakinas, Williams and Muscara all scored twice; Williams also handed out an assist for three total points. Stanton also had three points on a goal and two assists.
 
LEBANON VALLEY LEADERS: Garman and Brett Kudlak each had three points, as the former scored three goals and the latter handed out three assists.
 
IN GOAL: Sophomore Danny Lipkin (3-7) earned the win for Arcadia making 14 saves. Cameron Epple (5-5) took the loss for Lebanon Valley while making 15 saves.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS: The Dutchmen held a 32-30 advantage in total shots; however the Knights put 23 shots on cage compared to 21 from Lebanon Valley. The possession battle was tight, with Arcadia holding a 32-30 advantage in ground balls, while Lebanon Valley committed 19 turnovers with the Knights committing 14.
