READING, Pa. – The Arcadia University baseball team scored a pair of key runs in the top of the ninth to registered a 5-4 MAC Commonwealth victory at Albright College Sunday to complete a three-game sweep of the Lions.
FOR THE RECORD: The Knights improved to 19-7 overall and 9-3 in MAC Commonwealth games after notching their fifth straight win. This marks the second five-game winning streak of the year for Arcadia. The Lions record fell to 6-17 overall and 2-10 in conference play following their 12th consecutive loss.
HOW IT HAPPENED: Albright took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first on an RBI-single from Micah Storms, and that lead held until freshman
Phil Pierfy launched a two-run homer in the top of the sixth to put Arcadia up 2-1. Sophomore
Bryan Gillen led off the top of the seventh with a solo homer to give the Knights a 3-1 lead before Logan Pennypacker drove in Noah Beebe with a double to right before scoring on Austin Roth's single to tie the game a 3-3 through eight.

Jordan Draude scored what proved to be the game-winning run after heading home from third on freshman
Dylan Towey's sacrifice fly to right. Jeff Yordy launched a solo home run with one out in the bottom of the ninth for the 5-4 final.
ON THE HILL: Senior
Chris Keesser evened his record at 1-1 after allowing one run over the final 1.1 innings of the game. Freshman
Tyler Showers allowed one run on five hits with four strikeouts over the first four innings, while juniors
Ryan Ulrich and
Connor Laigaie combined for three scoreless innings of relief. Matt Costa (1-2) took the loss for Albright after allowing two runs over the final 1.1 innings.
ARCADIA AT BAT: Pierfy went 3 for 5 with a double and a two-run homer, while Gillen was 2 for 5 with a solo home run. Draude was 2 for 3 with a pair of walks and a run scored, while Cardace was 2 for 3 with two walks and a run driven in.
ALBRIGHT AT BAT: Pennypacker was 2 for 4 with a double, an RBI and a run scored, while Yordy was 2 for 5 with a solo home run. Nathan Fretz was 3 for 5 with a double and a run scored.
