The two teams had other scoring chances earlier in the game, but were unable to cash in. Both squads left the bases loaded in the eighth; senior Jordan Draude struck out to end the top half of the inning for Arcadia, while Seth Coiley grounded out to Lloyd to cap the bottom half for Suffolk.

The Knights then had runners on first and second with one away in the top of the 10th before senior Justin Chasmar grounded into a double play to end the threat, and Draude was stranded at second in the 11th after a lead-off single. The Rams also left two runners on base in the 10th after Laigaie got Sean Cameron and Coiley to fly out to sophomore Bryan Gillen in right field to end the inning.
