GLENSIDE, Pa. – The Arcadia University field hockey got in the win column for the first time in 2017, upending the visiting Swarthmore Garnet 6-2 at Jean Lenox West Field Sunday afternoon.
FOR THE RECORD: The win moves the Knights to 1-1 on the young season, while Swarthmore falls to 1-1.
HOW IT HAPPENED: Freshman
Lauren Dougherty and junior
Gabby Sedares combined for five of Arcadia's six goals. Sedares took a feed from sophomore
Isabelle Houser just shy of eight minutes in to ignite the offense before Dougherty broke the game open with the next three markers. The Warrington, Pa. native netted her first career tally on an unassisted effort at the 12:12 mark, putting the ball in the lower left corner of the cage.
Less than two minutes after the opening whistle of the second half Dougherty struck again as she took a pass from classmate
Michaela Ferlow on a penalty corner and shot to the top left corner of the cage. Just under 12 minutes later, the dangerous duo of Sedares and Dougherty connected in front of the cage with the former feeding the latter in front of the cage for a 4-0 lead.

Sydney Cyr netted her first goal of the season to wrap up the Arcadia scoring with less than nine minutes to play.
