Field Hockey Team Dominates Neumann for Second Straight Win

ASTON, Pa. – Four different Knights found the back of the cage as the Arcadia University field hockey team cruised to a 5-0 non-conference victory at Neumann  Wednesday night. The Knights have scored 11 goals over their last two games.

FOR THE RECORD: The Scarlet and Grey improved to 2-1 with their second victory in as many games. Neumann fell to 0-2 after being shut out for the second consecutive match.

HOW IT HAPPENED: The Knights dominated play from the opening whistle, but were held off the scoreboard until junior Lindsay Bechtold set up freshman Lauren Dougherty's first score with eight minutes remaining in the opening frame. Arcadia's lead grew to 2-0 at the half following Dougherty's second goal of the game with 1:26 left in the first half, and she would cap the scoring with her sixth goal of the season in the 48th minute. Juniors Kayla Brennan and Gabby Sedares scored in a four-minute span to get things going in the second half.

IN GOAL: Freshman Maya Stern (2-1) picked up the win in goal after facing just one shot over her 59 minutes played; sophomore Ashton Evans did not face a single shot over the final 11 minutes. Lizzie Yu fell to 0-2 after totaling 14 saves for Neumann.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: Arcadia out shot Neumann 25-1 in the match and registered all 19 shots on goal. The Knights had 17 of the game's 19 total penalty corners.
