FREDEREICK, Md. – The Arcadia University women's volleyball team bounced back from a first set loss to take three in a row to record a 3-1 (22-25, 25-12, 25-21, 25-9) MAC Commonwealth victory at Hood Wednesday night.
FOR THE RECORD: The Knights improved to 4-1 for the season with their fourth consecutive victory, while the Blazers record dropped to 0-5. This was the conference opener for both squads.
HOW IT HAPPENED: The two teams went back and forth throughout the opener, which saw Hood close out the set with a four-point run to take an early 1-0 lead in the match. The Knights dominated the second set 25-12 to even match at 1-1 and did the same in the fourth, taking the match-clinching set 25-9.
ARCADIA LEADERS: Junior
Becca Campf hit .600 for the match, totaling 10 kills and just on error on 15 attempts, while freshman
Lauren Enfield fell just short of a double-double with 10 kills and eight digs. Classmate
Maddie Sehrt hit .368 with nine kills and two errors on 19 swings, while fellow freshman
Julia Paliwodzinski handed out a season-high 33 assists to go with eight digs and four service aces. Sophomore
Emily Eng notched a match-high 16 digs.
HOOD LEADERS: Elena Zinaich led the way with 10 kills and three aces, while Courtney Hutchinson and Tailyn Kite added six kills each. Kari Betson had a match-high 16 digs.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS: Arcadia outscored Hood 56-36 in the match, totaling 43 kills and 11 aces while hitting .246 as a team. The Blazers totaled just 29 kills and hit .036 in the match.
NEXT UP: The Knights will be off until Tuesday, September 12, when they host Albright at 7 p.m. in a MAC Commonwealth match.
