Fischer, Still Set Career-Highs in Points, But Women’s Basketball Falls to Connecticut

NEW LONDON, Conn. – Freshmen Kylie Fischer (15) and Haley Still (11) set career-highs in points Monday afternoon against Connecticut College, however the Arcadia women's basketball team fell to the Camels, 72-59.
 
FOR THE RECORD:
  • The Knights fell to 7-9 on the year.
  • Connecticut advanced to 11-4.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Arcadia started the first frame quickly, dashing out to a 15-9 run over the first 7:39 to take a six-point lead. The Knights saw points from four different players, including five from sophomore Courtney Hoffman, and four from both freshman Taylor Fritz and junior Camille Menns. The first quarter ended with the Knights holding a two-point lead, 17-15.
  • The second stanza started neck-and-neck over the first 4:38 with the Scarlet and Grey holding a three-point lead, 25-22. The span saw five points from Still and three from Fritz. The Camels spent the latter part of the quarter on their own run, to take the lead into the break, 37-30.
  • Connecticut started the second half quick out of the gate, bolstering its lead to 14 before the Knights ripped off a 12-5 run to cut the deficit to nine with 1:53 left in the third. Sophomore Taylor Dunn led the scoring efforts with five points, with an additional four from Fischer. The Camels finished the frame leading, 53-42.
  • The Knights tried to claw back in the final stanza with a 12-4 run over a 3:51 span to cut the deficit to 11, but time expired. Fischer added another eight points on the run, but the Camels prevailed, 72-59.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
  • Fritz joined Fischer and Still in double figures with 11 points.
  • As a team, Arcadia shot 40.7% for the game on 22-of-54 from the floor.
  • The Knights forced 19 turnovers, leading to 18 points.

  • The Knights return home as they host conference opponent Widener on Wednesday night. Game time is slated for 8 p.m.
