Men's Volleyball Downed by Eastern Mennonite

HARRISONBURG, Va. – The Arcadia men's volleyball team fell Saturday morning to Eastern Mennonite, 3-0 (22-25, 19-25, 16-25). Sophomore Jason Manley registered 11 kills, tied among all players.
 
FOR THE RECORD:
  • The Knights dip to 2-4 on the season.
  • The Royals advance to 4-2. 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • After falling behind in the first set, the Knights pulled within two, to make it 12-10. The Royals would rally, going up 19-12, however Arcadia bounced back. The Knights pulled within one point, taking a 6-0 run to cut the deficit to 19-18. Again, EMU grew its lead to 21-18. The Scarlet and Grey responded again, making it 21-20. Eventually, the Royals buckled down, taking the set, 25-22. Manley register four kills in the game.
  • During the second set, the Knights pulled ahead, 5-3, however the Royals quickly responded. The teams went back and forth for a bit, before the Knights were within three at 17-14. Eastern Mennonite took a final run to finish the set with the win, 25-19. Manley led the charge again, picking up three kills. Freshman Quinn Baily added two kills.
  • In the final set, Arcadia forced a tie at five points apiece, before the Royals ran up, 19-10. The teams traded the next 12 points, for the match final, 25-16. Manley pegged four kills, with sophomores Austin Braas and Jarod Pichler each adding two. 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
  • Freshman Anthony Devantier registered 20 assists in the match, adding two service aces.
  • Quinn also contributed in the assist category, as he picked up three.
UP NEXT:
  • The Knights return home for a tri-match against Widener and Baruch on Saturday (2/3). Games will take place at 1 p.m. and 5 p.m., with both being broadcast on the Arcadia Knights Sports Network.
