Knights Break Mustangs, 2-1 in OT

GLENSIDE, Pa. -- Gabby Sedares' goal 2:34 into overtime, her second of the game, lifted the Arcadia field hockey team to a 2-1 OT win over Stevenson on Saturday afternoon at Jean Lenox West Field and Delran Pavilion.

The Knights remain perfect in the MAC Commonwealth at 4-0 and sit at 11-3 overall. The Mustangs slipped to 6-7 on the season and 1-3 in league play.

The Mustangs scored the first goal of the game, just over five minutes into the second half when Marissa Hoffman snuck a shot inside the near post from a tough angle for a 1-0 lead.

Ten minutes later, Sedares scored her first of the game off a feed from Lauren Dougherty following a penalty corner to knot the contest at 1-1. With both offenses pressing late in the game, each side benefited from some strong team defense as Stevenson's Nikki Jones picked up a defensive save on a shot from Sedares with under seven minutes to play. For the Knights, Sydney Cyr made a key defensive save to deny Emma Adams with 27 seconds to play and keep the game knotted at 1-1.

In the extra session, Isabelle Houser hooked up with Sedares on the first penalty corner for either team, and Sedares beat Kelsey Eure for the game winner.

IN GOAL: Ashton Evans made three saves with one goal allowed for the Knights, while Eure came up with just one save on the day.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: Before the game, the Scarlet and Grey took a moment to recognize the four seniors on the roster, Sedares, Lindsay Bechtold, Molly Fait and Kayla Brennan … Shot totals were suppressed for both teams, with the Mustangs holding a 10-6 lead in that category. Four of the Knights' shots were on goal, while just five of Stevenson's were on target … Sedares ran her point streak to seven straight games, and she has at least one goal in six of the last seven. With 27 points already, she is just two shy of last season's total of 29 … The Knights' six total shots tied a season low, last done in the opener vs. Stockton … With 11 wins thus far, the Knights have surpassed last season's total of 10, and are on pace to challenge the single-season record of 15, last done in 2014.

UP NEXT: Arcadia will be in search of win number 12 when it travels to Widener on Wednesday for a 7 p.m. contest.
